A leading global manufacturer earlier used an Excel based tool to evaluate their resource utilization and product or process improvement plans. Manufacturing industry takes up improvement initiatives in every financial year to improve either production capacity or product quality or to address plant logistics. These are substantial investments across the manufacturing units globally and it is important to track each plan for its realisation or usages and divert fund that is underutilised to other new plans that can be accommodated.
Alumnus developed a web-based application that is centrally controlled, but accessible to key stakeholders from the plant to create, submit improvement initiatives, update realisation and track fund usages. The new tool provides a customisable dashboard with comprehensive details for authorised users to closely monitor proper utilization of the allocated funds and user activities. The tool also provides user/ plant specific templates that can be used to quickly create new Improvement Plans.
The new application also eliminates the inaccuracies in the earlier system.
